A St. Patty's Day Limerick

There once was a man with two beers.
He would clap his hands and yell, "Cheers!"
He had a wife, Sue,
Who didn't know what to do;
So she kicked him out on his rears!

A Sonnet

Looking out she pondered life’s arrival
Waiting for the moment she could change it
But it never came so she fell away
I lost my love at Whitby falls today.

Dusk had come early on, rain streaming down
Glistening upon her porcelain face
She wept so openly, I cried and cried
We stood as the clouds came rolling seaside.

Slowly we walked down the staircase to grieve
Leaving behind our past lives, escaping
The sea beaconed that night calling her out
I stood there watching as she floated by.

Sometimes her reflection comes back to me
But I can clearly tell it’s me I see.

Pedro's Desire

His eyes were mesmerized, not dropping his stare for even a moment.
He was lonely and looking for love.
A night alone with me and he was sure he had found what he was looking for.
But on this rainy night, Pedro just wanted one thing: to be let out of the car.

Sunken Ship Adventures

Photo by David Doubilet, National Geographic

Bodie was mesmerized. He had never before been faced with such an incredible scene.
The glittery school of gruntmouth fish weaved in and out of burnt orange coral and lime green sponges. This sunken ship was home to many underwater life forms, and Bodie wished he could stay down here forever.
The water was calming. All he could hear was the tank air filling up his lungs, offering him the opportunity to capture this magnificent site. These deep waters off Key Largo were his favorite place to come when he needed time to himself. No one would bother him under here. No cell phone. No e-mail. No wife. No kids. Bodie could escape life’s worries and just mingle with the fish.
This sunken ship would become his favorite diving expedition. There were always new coves and caves to explore in these waters, but this ship had history and life. He imagined what the sailors on the Duane had gone through and what they sacrificed to be at sea.
He had pondered donning the white cap and sailor suit in his younger days, but Bodie’s father persuaded him to go after a more practical lifestyle. Law school seemed to fit perfectly.
But he was still attracted to the sea. Half way through law school, with life looming over him, he took scuba diving lessons. If law school was his practical side, scuba diving was his adventure.
